Charles Robert "Bobby" Helms

Mr. Charles Robert “Bobby” Helms, 73, of Pineville, widower of Brenda Therell Helms, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Pavilion Healthcare at Brightmore. He was born May 23, 1944 in Charlotte, a son of the late Grady O. Helms and Ethel Faye Estridge Helms. Mr. Helms loved his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and loved NASCAR.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Helms will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 2 pm at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Birchfield, and the Rev. Donnie Crump officiating. Burial will be at the Weddington United Methodist Church - Marvin Campus.Mr. Helms is survived by a son, Robert Mitchell Helms and his wife Shelly of Westminster; two daughters, Sheila Smith and her husband Harold Lee of Lancaster and Lisa Helms of Charlotte; two brothers, Billy Helms Sr. and his wife Becky of Indian Trail, NC and James “Jimmy” Helms of Pineville; four sisters, Doris Trull and her husband Fred of Harrisburg, Carolyn Yates and her husband Robert of Lake Norman, Nancy Watts and her husband Larry and Patsy Simpson and her husband Tommy all of North Myrtle Beach; a special granddaughter and grandson and caretakers Megan and Matthew McManus; a special friend and his family Barry, Darlene and Courtney Cooper of Waxhaw, NC; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Megan and Matthew McManus.Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, for Lancaster Co, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Helms.Read Obituary
