Billy Brown Carnes

Mr. Billy Brown Carnes, 79, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his home. He was born July 1, 1936 in Lancaster, a son of the late John Carnes and Lola Inez McManus Carnes. Mr. Carnes was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church. He loved farming, gardening and his church. Mr. Carnes was a member of Wannamaker Lodge #329 and was retired from SCDOT. He loved going to the mountains and loved to visit his friends and never met a stranger.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Carnes will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 3 pm at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.Mr. Carnes is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Carnes of Lancaster; two sons, Tim Carnes and his wife Kay of Hendersonville, NC and Mark Carnes and his wife Suzanne of Lancaster; two daughters, Larnell Deese and her husband Mike and Sandra Morgan all of Lancaster; a brother, Ned Carnes and his wife Dianne of Lancaster; a sister, Hattie Duncan and her husband, Mack of Lancaster; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Johnny Carnes.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Lancaster Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Carnes.Read Obituary
